Cook Like a Chef, Garden Like a Farmer

Welcome! I live in small-town Iowa with my husband and two dogs.  I love my garden and the little sunroom off the kitchen where I grow herbs and citrus through the winter. I focus on making great tasting food from scratch using the best ingredients.  By keeping things simple and using great ingredients, my food is naturally healthful.  I worked as a chef and a caterer for many years before I finished my degree in food science at Iowa State.

Now I do food consulting writing recipes, menus and developing new products for clients like Thousand Hills Cattle Company, Target Corporation,  General Mills, Caribou, Schwan's, and Peets Coffee.  I love working with my local farmers and count many of them as friends.  It's all really about teaching, whether it's a corporate client, a student in a class, or on TV.   I understand the consumer, chef and farmer and do my best to translate what I learn.
